Upon our return from the ancient Tongli town, Bruce, Delia, Max and I had dinner at the hotel’s restaurant (excellent), and then walked outside to the plaza between the lake and the hotel. It seems that the neighboring resort was kicking off the official beginning of tourist season with a fireworks show.
I suppose it makes sense. If you’re going to see a fireworks show, probably a good place to see it is where they invented the whole idea. Sure enough, it was a great show. To my total amazement, I got some good pics. One thing I didn’t successfully photograph was a really cool shell that exploded and then dropped a little red parachute with a string of multiple bright white lights hanging below it. These drifted down really slowly, and were really pretty. They tended to launch about 10 at a time.
