Stranded in China
Okay, seriously, it’s not as bad as all that.

But, I’m staying here an extra week and two days beyond the original plan.  Really, this is good news.  I’ll be able to visit Shanghai and ride the maglev.  I’ll be able to attend a meeting that was previously canceled due to lack of time.  And, most important, I’ll be able to really evaluate our product quality as production ramps up.  These are all good things.

Thanks to the very full flights on the way back, I will also end up spending not one, but FOUR days in Tokyo.  Wow.  This is really great!  I will actually be able to really do a little exploring and see the sights.  I’m extremely excited about this aspect of things.  My only remaining anxiety is finding a reasonably-priced hotel in the middle of Golden Week(end?).

I had a thought yesterday as I was sitting at the desk at the factory.  Practically everything I brought with me that has a plug of some sort works anyplace in the world.  My PowerBook, my camera chargers, my cell phone charger, my shaver.  Everything.  And thanks to the crazy plugs (see above) designed to take American, European and Australian/Chinese plug formats, it’s no problem to plug them in!
